My next class was my second interest and I have now currently put it at an equal number 1 with modeling and that is Shading and Lighting. I wanted to simulate a waterfall and I felt that I had a great effect but I wish the render times were not as long so I could have a better, longer presentation. I learned a good bit about RealFlow in this project and i hope my classmates did as well.įor the final presentation, I used realflow, Maya, PaintFX, and mental ray for my texturing and lighting. The final creation of the project had 4 different simulations and 4 render passes in Maya/Mental Ray. Instead of doing a base simulation and having it hit the floor, I decided to have it interact with some animation. The basis of the project is to show how the viscosity changes take place in RealFlow and what the output is. I decided to create a fluid simulation in Real Flow that would show viscosity changes. We were advised to create a project and present it to the class to teach something new that we had learned.

This project was based on presenting some information that we may not have learned yet. I found this to be very useful and to me, simplified my workflow. This workflow gave me individual control over the smoke and fire. Afterwards, I encompassed the flat object with another emitter emitting fuel and temperature to create the fire. This allowed me to get a nice dense billowing smoke. For the process of this effect, I emitted density from a large flat object. I felt that this black plume of smoke would be not only appealing but would also show some cool features of maya fluids. For my first project, I wanted to make an oil tanker on fire, emitting a dark black plume of smoke. Like particles in maya, everything is affected by different fields.

We learned how to emit fluid and how to control it accordingly. The Projects came out awesome and I have had a blast.įor the first project, we dived into Maya Fluids. We took the solid basis that we gained from VEF1 and expounded on it with maya fluids, Houdini fluids as well as RealFlow. Visual Effects 2 was a nice addition to Visual Effects 1. Im going to try an fill in the holes of this blog where I was a little too busy to get to and ultimately forgot. I loved the fidelity that came with zbrush, and i enjoyed creating characters, but I found that I had a better amplitude and grasp for environments. I found this passion after working through Production modeling and getting my hands wet with Zbrush. I am specializing in Shading and lighting with a focus on environments. I have been enrolled since May 2012 and I am on the extended track program.
